Individual Defending Technique

This 1v1 soccer drill focuses on individual defending technique and decision making of the defenders to use the correct defending positions according to the play of the 1v1 situation. This 1 on 1 exercise also helps to develop kicking technique, attacking initiative attitude, creating shooting opportunities.

Organisation

Players work in pairs. Cones are used to mark players' positions and the 22x35 meters playing field. Sticks are placed about 8 meters from the cones as shown. Two goalgeepers are also involved in this 1v1 soccer exercise. Players change their positions and roles continuously.

Description and Graphics

One of the goalkeepers starts the 1v1 soccer drill by playing the ball to the player at the cone. Player A and B perform a short passing combination. Player B lays the ball off and Player A serves an areal ball to the other sided Player D. Player D receives and plays the ball to Player C. Player C has to position himself to the determined side of the stick to lay the ball to the wanted side.
