Penetrating Passes Behind the Defending Line
This soccer drill empahsises on penetrating passes and cooperation of attacking players to play through the defending line.
Emphasis is also laid on combinative play to open deep passing channels and the defending cooperation of two players.
Organisation
In this small sided soccer exercise players work in pairs. Pairs change their positions and roles after each completed exercise.
The soccer drill is performed until attackers finish the action or defenders win the ball and score a goal or ball is out so the load is unregulated.
Pairs begin in the middle of the attacking zone. After the middle they go to the side lines also in attacking. After that they go to the end of the defenders' position and perform defending role after their resting period. The roles are changed in this way.
The small sided soccer exercise can be also organised with constant defending pairs.
Defenders act only in defending and attackers change their roles and positions between the inside and outside positions. After a determined number of repetitions defenders can be changed.
Description and Graphics
The goalkeeper starts the small sided soccer exercise by playing the ball to one of the attackers in the middle. Two attackers in the middle and two wingers cooperate to play the ball behind the defending line. Defenders must try to slow down the attackers and win the ball, avoiding penetrating passes behind them. After winning the ball defenders have to try to score to the opposite goal.
Attackers must react and make quick decisions to perform the best combination in the given situation.
