Transition to Attack and Counterpressing
This small sided soccer game focuses on speed of play, possession, combination play, transition, counterpressing and finishing skills.
Organisation
Set up 5 zones as shown.
Distances and the size of the areas should be created according to the given age-group.
Two normal sized goals are placed at the end of the areas.
Two goalkeepers are also involved in the soccer drill.
Players are split into two teams of six. (The SSG can also be played with a different number of players, 7v7 or 8v8.)
Description and Graphics
One team tries to keep possession in the middle zone against two defenders. (6v2)
The teammates of the defenders are positioned in four other areas, as shown.
If the defenders win the ball in the middle, they pass it out to their teammates as soon as possible. When it's managed, the defending team can try to score one of the two goals.
After losing the ball, the players must put pressure on the opponents to regain the possession, to tackle or to save their goals.
The teams change their roles after each goal.
