Quick Attacking Play in Outnumbered Environment - Defending Anticipation
This complex soccer drill focuses on practising the quick combination play in attack and the fast break after intercepting the ball. The defending part of the exercise emphasises developing the defending anticipation, closing down the deep passing channels, cooperation and reaction.

Organisation
Cones are used to create an approximately 30x70 meters playing field.
Mark a defending area and two small squares in the middle, as shown.
Place several balls to one of the small squares.
Besides, there are two defending lines, where the defenders can act in the 2v1 situations.
12 - 15 field players take part in the exercise for the optimal execution, but the soccer drill can also work with less or more players.
Two teams are identified by different colours.
The players work in groups of three within the teams and they change their positions after each action.
The roles of teams are changed after determined actions.
Description and Graphics
The blue team is in possession, the red starts the defending.
Players are arranged as shown.
The red defender stands with his back to the player in possession in the defending area, his two mates are located in their own squares on both sides and one of them has several balls.
One more defender is placed to the defending line from an other red group.
The blue players combine with each other, try to outplay the defenders in different 2v1 situations and finish the actions with goals. After losing the ball, the players put pressure on the ball and defend in cooperation.
The red players try to intercept the ball and start fast counter attacks.
