Fast Break with Long Ball
The objective of this special soccer drill is to practise the change of possession and develop players' game specific endurance.
This soccer exercise is one of the basic tactic games of the fast counter attack with long ball and change side.
Organisation
Cones are used to create 3 approximately 15x20 meters squares.
Two teams of six are identified with different colors.
Of course the game can be played with more players too.
The players perform the ball possession in the 2 sidewards areas, the middle square is the neutral zone where the players can't play, they only sprint across it when change sides.
The team in possession always have 2 wall players, who are also the target men during the opponents' possession. They only move in the determined zone, and they can play with maximum 2 touches.
The wall players change periodically.
Description and Graphics
The teams possess the ball on their own square. They play 4v4 in the area, but the team in possession has 2 wall players, so a 6v4 game evolves. The attackers try to keep the ball until they can, the defenders have to intercept it and hit the target men fast with a long, aerial ball on the other side. After that all the players run to the other square, where the play continues, but the defender-possessor positions change of course.
