Combination Play and Possession - Attacking Variations by Creating 2v1 Situations on Sides
This training session focuses on developing the combination play and the possession in overnumbered environment.
The training also provides with different attacking variations in the middle and on the sides by creating 2v1 situations, which increase the players' awareness in attack.
In the Exercise 1 and 2, there are more variations.
One or two variations can be omitted from the point of view of organisation, time, players' skills, etc.
The main important point is that the goal of the session must remain.
For the optimal organisation, 18 field players and two goalkepeers can take part in the training.
Of course the session works with other number of players, however it can have affect on the number of players during the game. For example, in case 17 field players are only, the game can be played with one neutral player, etc.
Age-group: 14-20+
Warm up
In the first part of the warm up, the players perform different athletic movements individually.
In the second part they execute a basic soccer passing drill, which emphasises practising overlapping, weight and timing of passes and runs.
Players work in a group of five or six. Identify two server players (N) and place them to the middle cones. The other players are positioned at the other cones.
Server players change their positions periodically, others are changed continuously.
